Champagne Special Club

Mesdames et Messieurs à Vous the SPECIAL CLUB …

C’est à dire:

the sum of all expressions of Terroir in Champagne collected in a single bottle.

Born in 1971, the Special Club or Club Trésor de Champagne since 1999 is an exclusive association of about 25 farmers-producers (RM = Récoltant-Manipulant) of Champagne who have the common goal of promoting the best expression of terroir in this region. The number of members is not fixed and can ‘vary as a function of adhesion or less of RM producers that are required to be part of it.

The rules of this club are simple:

• members must grow their own grapes (so they must be legally defined RM);

• wines must be bottled in a bottle the same for everyone, with a relief representing the winemakers aim to harvest;

• each manufacturer must affix their own label.

The Special Club is only produced in exceptional years and is ALWAYS a vintage.

The resulting wine, for each producer must really be of the highest standard because each member represents not only himself but the whole association to which it belongs.

It goes without saying, therefore, that the members of the Club may be gathered in a jury Even as a first task, it has to taste the “vin clair”, the still wines, which will then be assembled to create the cuvée reference.

A shall not be obliged to present his wines every year, it is only when it considers that the grapes are of exceptional quality.

In 2003 it was not produced any Special Club

When the Club agrees that the base wines are of sufficient quality, the manufacturer is allowed to bottle the wine in the bottle Special Club and induce the second fermentation.

After a minimum of 3 years of stop on the wine yeast can be foul-mouthed and the jury of peers will meet a second time to judge the quality of the result.

If the Club approves, the wine may be labeled by the manufacturer and sold as a SPECIAL CLUB.

The champagne may be totally different from each other because each cuvée can be:

MONOCRU OR FRUIT OF ASSEMBLY OF OTHER FEES;

BLANC DE BLANCS OR BLAN DE NOIRS;

Refined in barrique OR STEEL;

STAY ON YEAST FROM 3 TO 10 YEARS;

EXTRA BRUT BRUT O

The lowest common denominator is that the champagne has extraordinary qualities and that reflects the love of wine, a passion for the land, the family traditions of each producer who, no matter how small, does not try to emulate the great names but says its own identity
